I like breakfast and I like smoothies, but sometimes it feels like there is a lot to drink. Juice, coffee and a smoothie are all and all a great breakfast items, don’t get me wrong, but I sometimes need to feel that I eat something. In that case, this breakfast smoothie bowl is perfect! It combines the best of two worlds, the freshness and flavours of a smoothie and the ability to top it with cereal, fruits, berries, nuts or whatever floats your boat. In the picture, I have used raspberries, blueberries and black sesame.
The key to perfect texture
The key to getting the texture right is a frozen banana. Just cut it into chunks and freeze it overnight so that you can use it first thing in the morning. Make sure it’s a big banana because you don’t want the bowl to be too runny.
Next up is the avocado. You need a ripe one so that you can make benefit of the creaminess that comes from blending it. Adding an avocado to your smoothie, in general, is a good way of adding healthy fatty acids to your diet. I’ve written more about it in this avocado & lemon créme recipe.

This breakfast smoothie bowl is the perfect start to your day. The consistency and everything about it is just perfect.
- 1 banana frozen
- 1 avocado ripe
- 2 1/2 dl (1 cup) soy milk unsweetened
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp hemp seeds
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
-
Add half of the soy milk and the rest of the ingredients in the blender.
-
Start pulsing and add more soy milk until you have reached desired texture.
-
Scoop up in a bowl and top with your favourite topping. Serve immediately.
Tip! If you want to pack some more protein (you get some from both the hempseed and chia seed) you can add a scoop plant-based protein powder. I have tried with naturally flavoured ones but you can try out and see what fits your taste buds.
Enjoy!
