Hi, and sorry for the (very) delayed update. It’s been two busy weeks with lots to do and we also had a visit by my mother-in-law that made the training schedule go kaputt.
On the flip-side, though I’ve been out on a lot of hikes with the dog. This has not only been incredibly fun but also given me the chance to explore the trails that are to be found around here. I will most definitely be running on most of them in the time to come.
As for the strength training, I’ve been focusing much on bodyweight exercises such as;
push-ups
back extensions
mountain climbers
burpees
dips
divebomb push-ups
chin-ups
Once training and business get back to normal, the posts will as well.
My wife and I have entered two more races, both of them are here in Hong Kong. The first one is an 18-kilometre trail run that will take place on 31 March. By the pictures on their website, the trail looks fantastic! Have a look for yourself here https://thegreenrace.hk/kapuhala/. The race starts with a climb to 639 metres so this will truly be a test for the lungs and legs. I am very interested in how much lactic acid my legs can handle before I need to stop and rest. This will be a good indicator of how the status on the legs are and if I need to do more pure slope training.
The other race is an exploration race that also takes place here in Hong Kong. This one, however, is smack right in the middle of the city. You have two hours to complete as many challenges and checkpoints as possible. The different checkpoint and challenges are scattered around town so you need to look at the map and try to make the best route to complete as many as possible. This sounds like a fun twist on the race concept and I am really looking forward to it.
Again, sorry for the very short blog update, from now on it will be more consistent and detailed.
Take care, and be safe.
